| RalliArt FTO Open Day, Dudley - Saturday August 19th 2000 |
|
These are my pix taken at RalliArt's premises on King Street in Dudley. Today was the inaugural FTO Open Day at RalliArt. Approximately 35 cars turned up for this one, despite crappy wet weather at the start of the day it turned out lovely and sunny later on in the day. RalliArt kindly laid on tea/coffee, biscuits, and hot sandwiches for the more ravenous amongst us. Everyone was invited to register their car details and contact details with RalliArt and everyone received a cool RalliArt keyring as a gift (ah! smell the leather!). Stickers and other freebies were available to the lucky ones together with discounts on items purchased and ordered on the day. We were given a tour of their premises, including their warehouse with racking full mainly of groovy EVO parts. We were taken into the workshop area where lots of cars were being worked on. In evidence was a 4 wheel alignment rig, several ramps and the fabled MUT-II diagnostic computer from Mitsubishi Japan. A few people took the opportunity to have the device plugged into their cars. Their large showroom was full of Lancer EVO's in various guises as well as a left hand drive Eclipse! We then headed off to the Badger's Set pub, some people left RalliArt to go home leaving about 25(?) cars to convoy to the pub. As usual, convoying in large numbers on unknown roads provided one or two incidents, including getting seperated at roundabouts! All part of the fun! It was a mighty impressive sight much to the bemusement of a lot of other motorists and irritation on the part of others including one particularly irate Jaguar driver! Anyway, the usual food and drink was followed by more chat and the latest craze to sweep the fto rally world....yep, you guessed it, lateral G force testing with an AC-22 Accelerometer! A few people had attempts to post the highest lateral G force with 1.11G being the highest attained on the day by Richard Jenkins and his bucket seated GR! Thanks to all the people who turned up to make it a success and big thanks to Dave Hughes for being the organiser for this event, and of course special thanks to all the RalliArt staff for hosting us all. See you at the next one!
